Itinerary
Depart for Murchison Falls National Park. Lunch stop in Masindi before entering the park. Visit the magnificent falls where the Nile is forced into a seven-metre crevice, thundering 45 metres below. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge.
Half-day game drive on the northern bank of the Nile with a ranger. Game includes elephant, Rothschild giraffe, Jackson hartebeest, lions, oribi, waterbuck and savannah woodland birds. After lunch, Nile cruise for game viewing at close quarters: hippos, elephants, crocodiles. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge.
Drive towards Fort Portal (about eight hours) with stunning views through small villages and banana plantations. Fort Portal rests in the shadow of the Mountains of the Moon and is famous for tea plantations. Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale.
Drive to Semliki National Park. A ranger will accompany you on a nature walk through the Ituri Rainforest. Look out for rich birdlife at the swamp and visit the hot springs. Picnic lunch. Return to Kibale in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale.
Chimp tracking in Kibale Forest – the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. After lunch, transfer to Bigodi Swamp for a community-run nature walk (approx. two hours). Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale.
Transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP via Kasese, with the Rwenzori Mountains on your right. Game drive en route to accommodation. After lunch, boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel between Lake Edward and Lake George – elephants, buffalo and hundreds of hippos. Dinner and overnight at Simba Safari Camp.
Early game drive to the mating ground of the Uganda kob; search for lions, elephants, buffalo and other wildlife. After lunch, visit Maramagambo Forest – the Blue Lake, Bat and Hunters Cave, with chance to see bats, rock python and forest cobras. Dinner and overnight at Simba Safari Camp.
Optional: Kyambura Wildlife Reserve for chimp tracking in the gorge (not included). Then leave Queen Elizabeth and head to Bwindi through verdant countryside. Dinner and overnight at Haven Lodge Buhoma.
A meeting with the gentle giants of Bwindi! Gorilla tracking in the beautiful ecosystem of the park. It may take two to eight hours in steep and muddy conditions. Time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour. Dinner and overnight at Haven Lodge Buhoma.
Optional guided village walk. Then depart to Lake Bunyonyi, the deepest lake in Uganda – often called "Little Switzerland of Uganda". Relax or canoe while watching the sunset. Dinner and overnight at Arcadia Cottages.
Relax on the shores of the lake. Options: birding, nature walks, swimming or canoeing (not included). Dinner and overnight at Arcadia Cottages.
Drive to Lake Mburo NP (about four hours, lunch en route). Game viewing as you head to the lodge. After checking in, boat ride on the lake for birdlife and hippos. Dinner and overnight at Rwakobo Safari Lodge.
Early morning nature walk with a ranger (Lake Mburo is the only park in Uganda where you can safari on foot). After breakfast, transfer to Kampala with a stop at the Equator for photos and shopping. Overnight at Orchidea Guesthouse.
Depending on your flight time you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
